Setting Up Your US 1 Link Account

Please read these instructions fully before you proceed, so that you are fully aware of the setup detail
  1. Insert the US 1 Link Install CD into your CD Rom drive. It should start automatically.
    Or open the downloadable installer that you can get here.
  2. If you see the screen that says "What would you like to do?" and you already have a US 1 Link account, click on "Configure this computer using an existing Internet Account". If you do not see this screen, proceed to step 3.
  3. Once you see the US 1 Link Setup Window, proceed to fill in the blanks as instructed below.

    Your new email address will be: <username>@us1link.net
    • Full Name: enter what you want people to see when you send them e-mail
    • Username: enter your username that you signed up with(all lower case)
    • Password: enter the password you signed up with(all lower case)
    • To access an outside line, dial: Leave this blank unless you need to dial a code to access dial tone
    • To disable call waiting, dial: Click the box and select *70 if you have call waiting on your line
    • Remove Existing Dial-Up and Email Accounts: This does not remove existing email messages.
    • Set as the default internet connection: Makes US 1 Link your main internet account.
    • Dial Using: Tone or Pulse select tone or pulse dialing based on your own phone service.
  4. Install Browser: If you have an older computer, you may want to update your IE and OE by choosing IE 5.5 if you are using Windows 95 or IE 6.0 if you are using Windows 98, 2000, XP, ME. “Click OK”
    If you are installing the updated browser, you will go through the following steps: (otherwise you may ignore a. – d.)
    1. Once Internet Explorer starts to load you will click accept and next on the user agreement window.
    2. You then will click on install full then next in the next installation window.
    3. You will then be prompted to re-start your computer after clicking finish at the final window.
    4. When your computer starts up you will see a window stating “updating system settings” and this may take a while to finish depending on your system speed. Once it is done your system will finish loading and start up.
    5. Outlook express note: In some cases when you install the updated browser Outlook will ask for account setup information. Click cancel. Your account is setup automatically using our setup program.
    Once the setup is done you may be instructed to re-start your computer. Once finished and each time you want to access the internet, you can click on either the Internet Explorer or Outlook Express icons and you will be prompted to connect to US 1 Link. Once connected, you are ready to surf the net. You may access your e-mail from any Internet connected computer using our web-mail by clicking on the E-mail button found at http://www.us1link.net.
